STARSONG
The
children were crying at night in their beds
Frightening
thoughts going round in their heads
Aware
of The News and what had been said.
Attacks
on the cities, planes had been crashed,
Grownups
with bombs, governments clashed,
People
were missing, buildings were trashed.
Then,
suddenly, children heard a soft sound
As
a light in the darkness wrapped itself round
The
children by heavenly stars had been found.
They
sat up and heard a song in the night
The
stars were suddenly brilliantly bright
Their
hearts were filled with new warming light.
“Come
back to star wishing!” the
stars sang to say
“We
need your wishes. Please
don’t be afraid.”
“We’re
fed by your wishes at the end of each day.”
“We’re
always here for the children of earth”
United,
star galaxies twinkled in mirth
(A
star had been born at each child’s birth.)
“Look
up! Make a wish!”
the Starsong they sang
Each
star a bit different, none quite the same
Each
star had a child to follow by name.
To
the sound of Starsong the children were lured
From
all of the world the children were heard
United,
they sent up their wish in one word
“PEACE!”
